About me and my art
My name is Jessica Curning-Kuenzi. I create handcrafted stainless steel chainmaille jewelry inspired by the ancient art used to make flexible armor. Each piece is carefully woven ring by ring, often incorporating more than 1,000 individual links. At times, I enhance my designs with natural stones, oversized rings, colored rings, and/or delicate chains to add contrast and dimension, and create a one of a kind statement piece. Stainless steel is more challenging to work with than many other metals, but I choose it for its exceptional strength, durability, and hypoallergenic qualities. My work blends modern design with a centuries-old technique, offering a contemporary interpretation of a medieval art form.
I am also a nature photographer. I have spent the past 30 years photographing the natural world, exploring trails, waterways, and wild spaces in search of images that convey peace and tranquility. Often, I remain in one location for hours, patiently waiting for the perfect light to transform a scene. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to recognize both the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving the animals and lands that sustain our world. My subjects range from sweeping landscapes and waterfalls to wildlife, flowers, historic structures, and the unexpected moments of beauty I encounter along the way. Some of my photographs are created using infrared light—an invisible part of the spectrum. I have converted my camera to capture both infrared and visible light, allowing me to reveal perspectives beyond what the human eye can see. While most of my images are taken in Wisconsin, my portfolio also includes work from across the Midwest, the southeastern United States, and eastern Colorado. My photography is on permanent display at the Brodhead Memorial Public Library and at UW Health Eastpark Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

How to buy my photos
All photographs are for sale, to buy a photograph just click on it and pick a size and what surface you would like it printed on. Photographs will be printed without my name on the photo. Photographs are available in sizes 8x10 inches up to 48 x 96 inches. If you want a different size please go to the contact tab and let me know what size and I will quote you a price.
Printing surfaces
You choose whether you want a photograph printed on professional photographic paper (matte finish, acid free, unframed and unmated), OR a print on a textured canvas wrapped around a 1.5 inch thick wood frame with photograph wrapped around edges (looks similar to a painting), OR printed on glossy or matte finish aluminum. Canvas and aluminum prints come ready to hang and don't need to be framed (see photos below for samples). I highly recommend aluminum prints, when I display my big photographs at art fairs all are printed on aluminum because nothing looks better. They are a metal fine art print which is produced using a technology called sublimation. Sublimation uses inks that are infused directly into specially coated metal sheets (aluminum panels). The result of this specialized process are printed images with stunning color, vibrancy, unrivaled resolution and a stunning glass-like luminescence finish. The image quality of aluminum prints created using this process has been tested to have a longevity of 10 times that of paper. Metal prints are also surprisingly light and have a durability that is unmatched in the fine art print world; they are scratch, fade and water resistant and have a UV coating so they will not fade in direct sunlight.
